As I start my first days here at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, I want to reach out and tell you just how excited I am to be joining this important work, reaching those that are vulnerable and in need. It is truly an honor to come beside the volunteers and staff members who make a difference each day for people in our communities.
The Board of Directors will host a Commissioning for me on Sunday, April 12 at 3:30 pm at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 South 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85044 with a reception to follow. Dozens of thoughtful American families brought extra joy to the lives of Refugee Focus clients this past holiday season. Sixty-four refugee families (a total of 300 people) received wrapped gifts from "sponsor" families.

Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest Chooses Interim CEO
Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS-SW) Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Rev. Robert E. Duea will serve as interim President and CEO beginning August 1. Charles Monroe retired June 30. Duea will office out of the Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest administrative offices that relocated from Tucson to 10201 S. 51st Street, Suite 180,Phoenix on July 1. For 27 years Duea led Lutheran Family Services of Oregon and Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Prior to working with Lutheran agencies he served as pastor of a congregation in Bethesda, Maryland. During his tenure he will focus on defining leadership needs and strengthening Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest faith based partnerships. He and his wife, Marilyn, are members at Lord of Life, Sun City West.
Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, a pan-Lutheran organization, was started in 1970 out of the response to care for the most vulnerable by showing kindness doing justice and serving those in need.
