FOOD PANTRY

Location: Mesa
Details: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9am to 11:15am (closed 2nd Tuesday of the month) pack and distribute monthly food boxes to community members in need.

For all positions below, the I-HELP program is offered by LSS-SW in Mesa, Goodyear, Avondale, Surprise, El Mirage, Sun City, Youngtown, Peoria, and Phoenix. The volunteer needs in each city will fluctuate throughout the year. Please contact us for current needs in your area:

i-help overnight monitor

Details: Overnight monitors offer an extra level of safety and welcoming atmosphere at our IHELP (interfaith homeless emergency lodging) church shelters. Exact shift time will vary by host site, but typically begin around 4:30pm and end at 7:30am. Check guests in for the night, conduct bag checks, enjoy dinner with the IHELP guests, and sleep overnight at shelter site.

i-help meal team

Details: Purchase or prepare a meal for individuals experiencing homelessness that are currently enrolled in our IHELP (Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging) program. Drop your meal off, hot and ready to be served or stay and eat with the guests. If you are not able to cook, you can also donate funds to cover the cost of a delivered meal if you prefer. Volunteers can also bag and drop off breakfast or lunch meals that participants can take with them when they leave the program in the morning to job search or work before they return to the host site in the evenings.

I-HELP Laundry assistance

Details: Pick up linens (towels and sheets) from shelter site and wash from home or a laundromat. Return to the church before their next hosting day.

i-help van driver

Details: Pick up IHELP guests and drop them off at the hosting church in the evening. Morning shift also needed to pick up participants in the morning and drop them off at designated sites.

i-help host sites needed

Details: Does your church or community center have the ability to open it’s doors and allow individuals transitioning out of homelessness to spend the night in a safe environment? Please contact us if you’d like to talk more about offering your space for this purpose. Typically about 5-15 guests stay at the host site per night. We can also help provide the linens, meals, and volunteers if you have the space available.
