Robert Sanders

Director of Operations, Partners in Caring

Football coach Vince Lombardi once said, "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."

Robert Sanders exemplifies this ideal. Originally from Texas, he is a twenty- year veteran of the United States Air Force and a husband/father of four. Robert never intended to have a full-time career after retiring from the Air Force. However, his passion for helping others and unstoppable work ethic brought him from his Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest beginnings seven years ago as a case manager for Hurricane Katrina victims to his current position as Director of Operations for Partners in Caring.

Some days I put in 16 hours because you do what you need to do to get the job done. However, these are the most wonderful people you could ever work with - from those receiving services to the volunteers to the leadership. Having the opportunity to get to know these people is priceless.
— Robert Sanders

Partners in Caring exists to bring people from a place of crisis to restoration by connecting them to resources like emergency shelter, food pantries, financial literacy, and employment training. Robert helps in both an administrative and hands-on capacity; some days are spent working on reports and compiling statistics, while other days he is out helping where needed, such as networking with local churches or driving the van for women seeking emergency shelter.

In his spare time Robert stays busy spending time with family, and working on the board of an international men's ministry auxiliary group. He also enjoys racquetball, jogging and lifting weights. He believes in balance in life and is thankful to be healthy and able-bodied.
